From 27–28 August and 31 August–2 September 2026, a five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Agricultural Cooperatives Management was conducted at the National University of Battambang (NUBB). The training brought together 12 academic staff and students from NUBB, providing them with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support the effective management and sustainable development of agricultural cooperatives. Strengthening Knowledge in Cooperative Management The training covered key aspects of agricultural cooperative management, with a focus on practical approaches that can be applied in the Cambodian context. The main topics included: Democratic decision-making Working with passive members Group dynamics and teamwork Managing services for cooperative members Marketing members’ agricultural production Financial management Managing joint cooperative facilities and technologies Conflict management and communication within the group Through discussions, practical exercises, and knowledge-sharing activities, participants strengthened their understanding of the organisational, financial, marketing, and operational aspects of cooperative management. Building Local Training Capacity The training was delivered by Ing. Jiří Hejkrlík, Ph.D., from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) and coordinated by Ms. Ek Sreykhouch, Ph.D. Student at CZU. As a Training of Trainers activity, the programme was designed not only to strengthen the capacities of NUBB academic staff and students, but also to support the future dissemination of knowledge to farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and other stakeholders. The activity contributes to strengthening Czech–Cambodian cooperation in agricultural education and capacity building, while supporting the development of local expertise in agricultural cooperative management. The training was implemented within the framework of the SmartAgriCambodia: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture in Battambang project, which supports sustainable agricultural development through improved technical education, knowledge transfer, modern technologies, and strengthened cooperation among Cambodian and international partners.
