Technical Training on Agricultural Machinery Conducted at Battambang Institute of Technology (BIT)’s Center for Smart Agriculture

From 6–8 May 2026, the newly established Center for Smart Agriculture at the Battambang Institute of Technology (BIT) hosted a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Agricultural Machinery, Engine Systems and Maintenance in Battambang Province. The training was delivered by Dr. Adam Kesner from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) and coordinated by Mr. Nuom Vannat, Project Officer of the Building Action for Integration and Development Engagement (BAIDE). The training was jointly organised by CZU, BAIDE, and the National University of Battambang (NUBB) and brought together nine participants, including officers from the Agricultural Machinery Office of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (PDAFF) and teachers from several departments of BIT. The three-day programme combined theoretical instruction with practical technical knowledge, focusing on key areas of agricultural machinery operation, maintenance, and repair, including: Technical materials, machinery components, and their functions; Internal combustion engines and transmission systems; Diagnosis of common engine problems and basic repair techniques; Preventive maintenance and proper servicing of agricultural machinery. As a Training of Trainers activity, the programme was designed not only to strengthen the technical capacity of the participating instructors and agricultural machinery officers, but also to establish a foundation for further knowledge transfer. The skills and knowledge gained will subsequently be applied in training activities for BIT students, farmers, and other agricultural stakeholders. The training represents an important step in strengthening technical education and practical capacity in agricultural mechanisation. It also contributes to the development of the Center for Smart Agriculture at BIT as a dedicated platform for vocational education, technical training, and the introduction of modern agricultural technologies and know-how. The organisers express their appreciation to Dr. Adam Kesner, CZU, NUBB, BIT, PDAFF, BAIDE, and all participants for their active engagement and contribution to the successful implementation of the training.
