From 26–28 August 2026, the SmartAgriCambodia: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture in Battambang project participated in Agri Cambodia Fair 2026, showcasing how modern technologies, digital solutions, and innovative processing approaches can support the Cambodian rice value chain—from agricultural production in the field to higher-value products. The exhibition provided an opportunity for the project to present Czech agricultural technologies and expertise while connecting international technology providers with Cambodian universities, government institutions, farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and private-sector businesses. Promoting Czech Technology and Private-Sector Cooperation Through its participation, SmartAgriCambodia highlighted the potential of Czech technologies, technical expertise, and private-sector solutions for application in Cambodia. The project aims to facilitate connections between Czech technology providers and Cambodian partners, supporting technology transfer, practical adoption, knowledge exchange, and future Czech–Cambodian business cooperation in the agricultural sector. Smart Production Through Precision Agriculture Together with the Faculty of Engineering of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU), the National University of Battambang (NUBB), and BAIDE, the project demonstrated technologies related to drones, digital field mapping, and precision agriculture. Digital field data and mapping technologies can provide farmers and agricultural professionals with more detailed information about field conditions and crop variability. Such information can support more targeted application of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs, helping improve resource efficiency and contributing to more sustainable rice production. Smart Decision-Making: Putting Agricultural Data in Farmers’ Hands The exhibition also demonstrated how digital agricultural information can be made accessible to farmers through mobile technologies. In cooperation with Greenovator, the project presented how digital field maps can be integrated into the Mekong Farm application, allowing farmers to access information about their fields through smartphones. Such tools can support farmers in monitoring their fields, accessing relevant information, and making more informed decisions about farm management. Smart Processing and Value Addition The SmartAgriCambodia exhibition also highlighted opportunities to increase the value of Cambodian rice beyond primary production. Bubbles Distillery demonstrated how locally produced Cambodian rice can be transformed into higher-value products, including premium rice spirits. The example illustrated how modern processing technologies, quality control, and food-safety practices can contribute to product diversification, new market opportunities, and increased value addition within the agricultural value chain. Connecting Technology, Data and Value Addition SmartAgriCambodia's participation in Agri Cambodia Fair 2026 demonstrated an integrated approach to agricultural development, connecting smart production, digital decision-making, and value-added processing. The exhibition highlighted a pathway in which better field data can support better agricultural decisions, while modern processing and quality-management approaches can create additional value from locally produced agricultural products. Through collaboration among Czech and Cambodian institutions, technology providers, private-sector partners, and agricultural stakeholders, SmartAgriCambodia continues to promote practical solutions for modern, efficient, innovative, and sustainable agriculture in Cambodia.
