Farmers in Action! Eight-Day Agri-Machinery Training Complete!

From 9–12 and 16–19 December 2025, the Building Action for Integration and Development Engagement (BAIDE), in collaboration with the Agricultural Machinery Office of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (PDAFF) of Battambang, successfully conducted an eight-day training programme on agricultural machinery for local farmers in Rukhak Kiri District, Battambang Province. The training was held at Prek Chik Agricultural Cooperative and Samros Muk Reah Agricultural Cooperative, bringing together a total of 48 farmers for a combination of theoretical instruction and practical, hands-on exercises. The training focused on two key areas: Basic repair and maintenance of power tillers (hand tractors), including practical knowledge to help farmers identify common problems, carry out basic maintenance, and perform simple repairs independently. Benefits and application of laser land levelling technology, with participants introduced to how laser levelling can improve field preparation, contribute to more efficient water and input management, and support more uniform crop production. Through the practical sessions, farmers strengthened their technical knowledge and gained greater confidence in maintaining and operating agricultural machinery. The ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance locally can also help reduce machinery downtime and maintenance costs. The training was particularly timely as farmers prepared for the upcoming rice-planting season. By gaining knowledge of modern land preparation technologies such as laser levelling, participants were better equipped to improve the efficiency of their farming operations and support more productive rice cultivation. The activity forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen farmers’ access to modern agricultural technologies, practical technical knowledge, and improved mechanisation practices, contributing to more efficient and sustainable agricultural production in Battambang Province.
